What is the average process for roof replacement?

The roof replacement process begins with a thorough inspection to determine if a repair or coating might suffice. If a full replacement is necessary, the team removes existing roofing layers—often multiple layers in DC homes—and inspects the wood decking for any damage. After replacing any compromised decking, they install new underlayment and the chosen roofing membrane .

We first inspect your roof and see if it could possibly benefit from a Repair and/or Coating. If the roof is too far gone, or the homeowner has already decided on a new roof, we will measure the roof and give a written estimate for the replacement.
The first step in the process is removing the existing roof membrane and any possible underlayments. Roofs in DC often have two, and sometimes even three or four (not code compliant) layers of roofing on them. After the roof has been removed we inspect the wood decking and replace and rotten or broken planks as needed. We then install new underlayment and the roofing membrane that has been chosen by the homeowner.
